ALBANY, N.Y., March 2, 2015 — Albany Medical Center announced today that Albany Med EmUrgentCare, where Albany Med caregivers provide rapid treatment of a wide range of conditions every day of the year, is opening a fourth location this spring in the bustling Hannaford Plaza on Wolf Road in Colonie.

This new site, formerly occupied by Calico Corners, will offer streamlined urgent care medicine delivered by emergency-trained providers at a central, convenient location.  It is Albany Med EmUrgentCare’s fourth location.

“For most of our patients, we are able to provide them the expert care they need in a half-hour or less, an important service for people traveling one of the busiest corridors in Albany County,” said Stephen Hassett, M.D., Chief of Albany Med’s Division of Urgent Care and Community Outreach.
“Providing the highest quality and most efficient urgent care for patients is the cornerstone of our success and patient satisfaction,” he said.  “We are thrilled to be opening our new facility right in the heart of Albany County.”

The new Albany Med EmUrgentCare facility will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day of the year, including holidays. Providers are expertly trained to care for patients of all ages and treat a variety of conditions such the common cold and influenza, ear, sinus and throat infections, asthma, cuts and lacerations, tick and other insect bites, rashes and any other seasonal ailments, as well as minor injuries. X-ray will also be available on site to help diagnose sprains and fractures.  Local employers will also benefit from the occupational medicine services that Albany Med EmUrgentCare provides with a focus on getting employees back to work in good health.

“Albany Med EmUrgentCare is helping us make it easier for patients to receive the level of expert care offered by Albany Med specialists,” said Ferdinand Venditti, M.D., Vice Dean for Clinical Affairs at Albany Medical Center and President of the Albany Med Faculty Physicians Group. “Our new location in Colonie will offer fast and effective urgent care that is coordinated with a patient’s primary care physician and, if necessary, specialists at Albany Medical Center hospital.”
